No arrows variety. A light gold obverse that
turns somewhat reddish near the top is combined with a reverse that is
mostly reddish in the central areas and blue around the perimeter. There
is some haze visible on the reverse when the coin is held at an angle. This date was made popular by Harry
X. Boosel who studied the coinage of this year in great detail, even to
the point where he became known as "Mr. 1873".
