I know, it looks pretty awful in the scan. In
reality, it is quite nice with attractive coloration and good mirror
reflectivity. The obverse is a light to medium golden orange color. The
reverse is a reddish orange overall with some blue and purple near the
rim. This coin, the reverse in particular, is a grand example of why I
generally prefer toned coins over white ones. Retail value in my 1949
edition of Wayte Raymond's Standard Catalog of United States Coins is
$5.00.
