A dime from the year of the centennial of the formation of the United
States. This is a popular year for collectors to concentrate on, not
only because of the connection to the centennial, but also because a
large variety of coins were produced that year at a variety of mints.
The Proof coins of that year are generally reasonably available as far
as classic Proof coins go, and assembling a 1876 Proof set will give a
collector an excellent start on a complete Proof type set.
