An attractive late date seated quarter. It is
near white with just the slightest hint of gold if you try hard enough to
see it. The mintage is sometimes reported as 832, but it is actually 800
as the odd 32 pieces never left the mint. Breen speculates that they were
assay pieces. Additional date pressure comes from the limited business
strike mintage of only 10,000 pieces. In fact, an 1888 quarter in Good-4
condition will run you about $150.
